Sunnyvale, CA – September 27, 2011 – Serious Energy today announced a technology partnership with U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), creators of the LEED green building program and LEED Online. Coined LEED Automation, the partnership enables users of LEED to easily sync up data and information with LEED Online, the software platform that manages the LEED green building certification process, and drive continuous improvement in their buildings.
“As of LEED 2012, users are expecting a more performance-based rating system, and our cloud-based technology, together with LEED online sets the stage for that,” said Kevin Surace, CEO, Serious Energy. “Building owners and property managers that deploy our algorithm-based, adaptive learning, energy-efficiency platform have the means to track their energy usage in real-time, and drive further savings far beyond what people alone can do. With automated sync of this data, users of LEED Online will be able to move to a more dynamic certification process with almost no extra work.”
“This important technology partnership with Serious Energy allows USGBC and LEED to leverage state-of-the-art cloud-based software that will increase customers’ business savings and verification through improved data, information, and content integration,” said Rick Fedrizzi, CEO, U.S. Green Building Council.
SeriousEnergy Manager is an enterprise energy efficiency cloud-based service. For LEED-certified building owners, the platform delivers real-time tracking, powerful reporting, and control of energy, gas and water. The platform has proven to identify actionable, straightforward savings opportunities of 10% - 30% - even in high performance LEED-certified buildings.
LEED Automation performs three key functions for LEED project teams and users of LEED Online by seamlessly integrating third-party applications with LEED Online:
“Serious Energy and USGBC’s LEED Automation partnership is how leadership works. Some of us can recall the world before computers,” said Scot Horst, SVP of LEED, U.S. Green Building Council. “LEED Automation will bring green building up to speed with the world of information by merging sophisticated technology partners with LEED's ability to improve buildings and transform people. We don’t even know what’s possible yet. But we do know that organizations like Serious Energy are making it real.”
Serious Energy will be exhibiting at GreenBuild 2011 in Toronto, Canada, October 4-7, booth number 3136S.
Serious Energy’s platform of products and services are designed to increase the value of buildings for both owners and occupants by combining real-time, connected building analytics and control with material science innovations. SeriousEnergy Manager is a cloud-based enterprise software system that monitors, optimizes, and controls building energy use using advanced algorithm technology. SeriousWindows and iWindow significantly improve building envelope energy performance, improving comfort and reducing heating and cooling. QuietRock delivers improved comfort through reduced-material patented soundproofing technology, enabling buildings to increase density and help improve productivity. With an advanced software development team, six manufacturing plants and a broad network of distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada, Serious Energy products have been installed in thousands of projects worldwide, including the Empire State Building. The U.S. Green Building Council is committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. With a community comprising 79 local affiliates, nearly 16,000 member organizations, and more than 167,000 LEED Professional Credential holders, USGBC is the driving force of an industry that is projected to contribute $554 billion to the U.S. GDP from 2009-2013. USGBC leads an unlikely diverse constituency of builders and environmentalists, corporations and nonprofit organizations, elected officials and concerned citizens, and teachers and students. The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED green building certification system is the foremost program for the design, construction, maintenance and operation of green buildings. Over 40,000 projects are currently participating in the commercial and institutional LEED rating systems, comprising more than 8.3 billion square feet of construction space in all 50 states and 120 countries. In addition, more than 12,000 homes have been certified under the LEED for Homes rating system, with nearly 58,000 more homes registered. By using less energy, LEED-certified buildings save money for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.
