Serious Energy ranks as one of the 500 fastest growing technology firms in North America over the past five years
Sunnyvale, CA—October 21, 2011—Serious Energy, Inc., the leader in energy efficiency solutions that increase the value of buildings, is one of the winners of the prestigious 2011 Technology Fast 500 Awards sponsored by consulting firm Deloitte LLP that honors rapidly growing companies in high tech.
Technology Fast 500 recognizes five hundred of the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. The award is based on percentage of fiscal year revenue growth from 2006 to 2010. The selection process is based on objective criteria to maintain the independence of the selection process.
“I am thrilled that Deloitte has recognized us and the enormous market and need to improve our buildings,” said Kevin Surace, CEO of Serious Energy. “It is imperative that we make our buildings more valuable, comfortable, and efficient. No goal will produce more return to building owners, nor better serve the people who manage and occupy them. We continue to see enormous growth as we deliver the most innovation solutions that are better, cheaper, and faster for real estate owners and operators to add enormous efficiency gains and value to their buildings.”
In an age when we spend over 90% of our lives inside buildings where we live, work, study, and shop – American real estate has lost trillions of dollars of value. Moreover, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, America’s buildings account for approximately 40% of total U.S. energy consumption, costing $400 billion annually. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reports that some 30% of buildings’ energy is simply wasted.
Since its founding in 2002, Serious Energy’s suite of solutions – including advanced energy software services and building materials – have improved thousands of buildings and homes. In 2010, Serious Energy upgraded all 6,514 dual pane windows in the Empire State Building with its super-insulating SeriousGlass technology, a key element in reducing the overall energy cost in the iconic structure by 38 percent. The New York Stock Exchange recently called on Serious Energy to reduce energy use while improving year-round comfort in its 104-year-old historical landmark offices.
